The use of ozone in water dates back to the early twentieth century. Since then, a variety of applications and experiments concerning the bactericidal and fungicidal and virus-inactivating functions by ozone have been studied and experimented. Major cities like Amsterdam, Moscow, Paris and Turin have been employing ozone to produce drinking water.
In water distribution circuits, it has become essential to use appropriate technical solutions for the prevention and monitoring of bacteria, to include Legionella pneumophila, which are particularly dangerous to human health.
Proper designing and the inclusion of OZOSÌ technologies to systems ensure safety in fighting microbiological risks, also increasing plant yields and decreasing maintenance costs. Ozone-based systems allow a significant reduction in the use of chemicals.
OZOSÌ has patented an automatic ozone-based disinfection system to reduce microbiological risks in hydraulic circuits.
OZOSÌ can be easily installed in both new and existing circuits.
The OZOSÌ system is fitted with osmosis water filtration and water softening technology.
A three-prong treatment that makes water microbiologically pure and potable (e.g., well water).

Ozone is applied in swimming pools for the following purposes:
• Bacterial disinfection;
• Viral inactivation;
• Oxidation of iron, soluble manganese, organic and inorganic compounds;
• Color removal;
• Elimination of unwanted odors and flavors;
• Algae removal;
• Microfloculation of dissolved organic.
In addition to allowing a significant reduction in chlorine consumption of up to 80%, the main advantages attainable through the use of ozone at the expense of chlorine are:
• Ozone is the most active of available natural oxidants
that can be used safely since once it is mixed with
water it produces oxygen;
• The ozone is approximately 300 times more active than chlorine in the destruction of bacteria and viruses at the same concentration;
• Ozone is an excellent deodorizing agent which allows the elimination of odors, hydrogen sulfide and urine;
• Ozone is particularly effective against molds and fungi;
• Chlorine is a toxic gas, while ozone is toxic at 1.0 mg/l, according to the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), though no deaths from ingestion at such concentrations have been recorded.
UNI 10637 Standard, May 2006 Requirements for circulation, treatment and disinfection systems and for pool water quality.
